Two of my favorite things about the new a•muse | studio product line are the beautiful new water-based pigment ink pads and the awesome embossing powders. I decided to highlight both in this card design, which I made for my April workshops.
Possibly my favorite color combination is pink and green, and so I just love how sage and blush look together. I find myself pairing them often. For this design, I used sage, blush and vanilla cardstocks, and sage ink. I edged the vanilla paper with the sage ink.
I stamped the sentiment (from the "Thank You Mix" set) in sage, and then dipped the freshly-stamped image in the (seriously beautiful and elegant) satin pearl embossing powder -- you need to try this stuff to believe how absolutely gorgeous it is. It's a finer grain than your typical powder, and you'll want to heat-set it just a *smidge* longer -- the powder first melts, and then with a little more heat, it magically turns to get this beautiful, slightly shimmery, pearlescent finish (happens quick, so keep an eye out). You have to see it to believe it, but it is STUNNING. I think that all those who made this card with me in an April workshop will agree -- I sure took a lot of orders for satin pearl embossing powder! :)
Just to reiterate one more point about the new water-based pigment inks: you can emboss with them, and they emboss beautifully. Always remember that they are not nearly as tacky as a ColorBox pigment ink or a Versamark (a•muse | studio inks are not glycerine-based), so when you tap or flick off the excess powder before embossing... do it gently. Overly aggressive tapping will cause most of the powder to fall off, resulting in a less-than-satisfactory finished embossed product. Don't say I didn't warn you. ;)
Oh, and the final finishing touch on this card was a strip of the new tiny flowers ribbon (LOVE) in blush. It's fairly substantial in weight, so I like to use a glue dot (or two) to hold it firmly in place on the card front, as well as in the back (of course).
More soon!
